My parents met in New York City, after immigrating from their respective countries of S. Korea (mom) and India (dad). This picture was taken during my mom's first visit to my dad's native country. I was 4. To see an image of a Korean woman dressed in a traditional Indian sari, with the Indian family she married into, in India, is a possibility that started with the American dream. Few things give me more heart than people embracing those of differing cultures, religions, and backgrounds. My parents were able to meet living in a city that welcomed dreamers from all over the world. Then they simply fell in love. I think about this daily.
